Left-wing extremist terrorism is back
While I retreated to the mountains with my child, almost presciently, for a period of introspection and relaxation, what had been predicted by those who were then still vilified as "conspiracy theorists" came to pass: a blackout.

The now-published manifesto on the notorious platform Indymedia names my beloved former Berlin district as the target. The perpetrators are evidently operating under the assumption that only wealthy villa owners live there. This assumption is false.
This district is home to elderly people, families, and young children. Hardly anyone was prepared. Only one villa had a generator. The consequences of this act don't affect abstract class divisions, but concrete neighborhoods.
Left-wing terrorism is back--and it coincides with a geopolitical turning point. While saboteurs imagine they are making a statement against imperialism and property ownership by cutting off power, Donald Trump, once a real estate tycoon, now the most powerful man in the world, is simultaneously carrying out a colonial act of power with global repercussions in Venezuela.
Trump will not be aware of the existence of a so-called Volcano group. Extremist groups regularly overestimate their historical relevance. In reality, they remain what they are: terrorists who mythologize their own significance.
Back in 2022, I pointed out that German left-wing terrorism is less a matter of political resistance than an expression of infantile, affluent neglect. The corresponding video garnered 1.3 million views--as a curiosity, not as a warning. Well, it seems the lunatics have truly escaped the asylum--worldwide!
The attack on several districts in southwest Berlin, however, is no curiosity. It is a real security event with potentially deadly consequences. The victims will not be symbols, but neighbors.
The Monroe Doctrine is back--not as a historical relic, but in a modernized, presumably more intensified form. The beginning of 2026 makes it clear: The world order has shifted once again. Illegal wars of aggression are rhetorically termed "terrorist interventions" as long as the aggressor is flying the right flag.
In the imperialist West, this is nothing new. All the more urgent, then, is the need to finally analyze colonial continuities seriously. Let us listen to our historians. The violent history of colonialism continues to exert its influence tirelessly. It creates ideologically disoriented young people like the Vulkan group, as well as new geopolitical power shifts, and readjusts the so-called value-based order before our very eyes. Roosevelt's amendment to the Monroe Doctrine succinctly summarized this logic: states that maintained order, acted responsibly, and fulfilled their obligations had nothing to fear from US intervention.
Europe, and Germany in particular, is not currently in this position. As expected, Putin could not be brought to his knees. To believe otherwise was infantile and foolish. Domestically, this weakness will be exploited. The AfD will benefit--as will the extreme fringes on both the left and the right. The result is an explosive situation, the... Dynamics that are likely to shape the coming years.
